The Remnant by Brother Terrell Willis

God has for centuries spoken to man through mediators; priest and prophets, teaching and instructing us to holiness, and further warning us of that great judgment day. But now, in this last day, God who spoke through the fathers of old in times past, has now spoken unto us by his Son Jesus Christ; whom He hath appointed to judge the world in righteousness. His grace hath appeared unto all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Unfortunately, history tells us that mankind, at least the majority, simply decides to fight against the grace of God, ignoring the Spirits’ warnings, ignoring the pricking of their conscience, ignoring the laws of nature, ignoring the consequence of hell-fire, and further ignoring the very Spirit of God that has made them aware of their plight and has forced God to say once again, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth”.

What words of finality, what an awful conclusion, what a repentance of expression toward the raced loved and cherished by God. Is there any hope for mankind? Must we all fall victim to a sinful world?

Isaiah 1:9 “Except the lord of host had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom and we should have been like unto Gomorrah”

The days of Noah and Lot where very similar to the times that we are living in now; as men began to multiply on the face of the earth, so did their evil ways and the greatness of their wickedness would go on to impact and influence generations and generations to come. Sodom and Gomorrah, two great cities in that day, met all of the conditions to be destroyed by God’s Judgement of Fire and Brimstone. Today we are living in world that has greatly been affected by the sinful ways of man. Today murder has become a common response to disagreements, today divorce and remarriage is taught as strong as it is one spouse for life, today there are men with men, and women with women working that which is unseemly. Today are children will not understand that there was once a world that frowned upon gay marriage... But now they have even made it an option to choose a gender other than what God as provided. Today alcohol consumption, suicide, and depression has all but increased.

Today there are false prophets seducing multitudes teaching sin you must sin you can’t help. Today the leaders in the world, in our countries, in our cities, in our families have failed to trust God to lead us in our lives. Today, to trust God for our welfare, for our deliverance, or for our healing is frowned upon by society and is liable for prosecution. Today the depth of trusting God is but a mere option. Today, even the small community of Jackson Mi has been destroyed by the effects of sin.

Are we not worthy of the same judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah? In the days of Noah and Lot God saw that the very imagination of man was evil. What God had assumed then, has now been revealed in this last day. Man has meddled with many wicked inventions, ideas, and have corrupted principles. Things that were just wicked imaginations then, are now present realities. The whole world lieth in darkness, and because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, the heart of man and woman is fully set in them to do evil. With a world growing more in more wicked How shall we escape? Are we all subject to corruption? Are we all subjected to eternal damnation? How can we be preserved and kept from the judgment due?

Isaiah 1:9 “Except the lord of host….had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom and we should have been like unto Gomorrah”….

Except the lord of host had left unto us a very small remnant….we should have been destroyed as the first world with the flood, except the lord had left unto us a very small remnant we should have been destroyed with fire and brimstone….are only hope…the holy remnant.

Throughout the bible and Christian history, it has been made known by God that he has by grace chosen of us a remnant. A remnant who shall in the last day be preserved from all corruption in this world by his grace. As Noah was chosen and preserved from the waters that crashed against the Ark in his day, so shall God’s remnant be preserved. But…the question is who are the remnant and where are they? What qualifies one to be a part of the holy remnant? And how are they going to help us be preserved from this world?

The remnant are those who lives can be traced back to the original. God’s remnant are those who possess the same power and spirit that the apostles received from God, through his Son. When the apostles received the holiness message they gladly accepted it and they went forth conquering and to conquer reining over sin in this life. They faced trials and great tribulations; receiving stripes, stones, threatenings, spat on, tortured, and left for dead, yet they counted themselves thankful to have suffered as their savior did. And when they were commanded not to teach in the name of Christ, they thought it better to have obeyed God rather than man.

And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place that is; a peculiar people, fastened, rooted and grounded in Christ, standing on the word of God alone despite the winds and storms that arise. A people led only the spirit, that our God may lighten our eyes, and show unto the world true salvation.

As was the original, so shall it be with Gods remaining people on earth…tested by the world, tried by God, persecuted by gainsayers, doctors, lawyers, the law, friend’s. families, wolves. Yet Gods remaining people will stand, for they carry the testimony of Jesus Christ and love not their lives even until death. This is the remnant!
